As promised: today is the Music Video Quiz kick-off. Between today and New Year's Eve and at different moments throughout the days I'm gonna publish 50 special quizzes. All quizzes are based at captures I made from video clips, available at YouTube and similar websites that are accessible to everyone. As a result the overall picture quality is mediocre at its best; please consider this as part of the fun since we're all suffering equally.

All music videos are somehow connected to a movie. As usual: your task, should you chose to accept it, is finding the title of that movie. In most quizzes the emphasis lies on showing the performing artist; most performing artists and their songs are mentioned at the movies' soundtrack section of IMDb.

In many videos some fragments of the movie are visible; sometimes the performing artist uses the original movie set and in some cases 'other clues' may lead you to the correct answer. In general: in case you don't recognize the movie or the video clip right away: try to find out the name of the performing artist, that name should lead you to the OST (Original Sound Track) of the correct movie. Nasty twitch: some performing artists may appear in different music videos for several movies and some movies may appear more than once with different performing artists.

Scoring: all 50 episodes have a value of 20 Hall of Fame points; solving all episodes will be rewarded with 250 bonus points, solving 41-49 episodes will be rewarded with 100 bonus points. In case an episode turns out to be too difficult I reserve the right to add extra captures later; even in such cases the value of that particular episode remains 20 HoF points. These extra clues will not be announced at the chat page, so it may be wise to check out the pages of the quizzes you couldn't immediately solve again later.

All 50 quizzes will be closed simultaneously at Friday 6 January 2012, after which I'll add your scores to the regular Hall of Fame. Your scores for this special series do count for the Monthly Hall of Fame for December, which also will be published immediately (well, as soon as possible) after closing the series. All quizzes will officially be closed at the moment such is announced at the chat page at January 6; incoming answers after that will be ignored, even though it may take me a few days to update all fifty quiz pages from 'open' into 'closed'.

The purpose of this special series is to provide you all with some good old fashioned family fun during the upcoming holidays around Christmas and New Year. Even though I'll be 'Home Alone' for the next few weeks to be able to process all incoming answers, I realize many of you will participate in gatherings with families or friends. I hope in some cases it'll lead to spending a few nice hours, working together with your loved ones at solving some quizzes. In all cases I hope you're gonna have as much fun solving the quizzes as I did creating them for you. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year! -Vagebond-
